In the project, we rethought the concept of the classical library, with the main goal of creating a modern public space that preserves its identity. We aimed to create a living space that attracts people while maintaining the spirit of the location.
The building is from the late 19th century and has architecture that is not typical of Eastern countries, with classic facades featuring Baroque elements and floral decorations. The interiors contain many elements from the Soviet era, representing a symbiosis of different cultures and time periods, creating a unique image. We carefully preserved all historical elements during the project, including columns embedded in the walls and historical paintings that were discovered during the process.
Our project is based on a holistic approach, and in addition to working on the library building itself, we have also worked with the surrounding area. When selecting plant materials, local climate conditions were taken into consideration, and the long-term maintenance and aesthetic appeal of the landscaping were also significant factors for us.
The renovation of the library and the landscaping work have revitalized a section of the city and changed the perception of the street and neighborhood. Now, the surrounding area holds significant potential for future development, and city authorities have already initiated actions to transform it.
